Its parent, Riot Games, will now bring it to mobile gaming after a long wait. VALORANT Mobile’s China pre-reg will begin in July 2025, which also heralds a big leap towards bringing the franchise to other PCs apart from its own.
VALORANT Rises As FPS Greatness
Since its launch on PCs back in 2020, VALORANT, literally overnight, has become a foundation of competitive first-person shooter game genre, praised for strategic gunplay, abilities of its agents, and strategic gameplay. Esports facilities, interaction with the community, and frequent updates have also continued investment by Riot Games, all but ensuring that VALORANT’s future will lie amongst one of all-time greats of FPS franchises.
Why Mobile?
VALORANT Mobile’s release comes in Riot’s strategy to grow to a broader market, most notably in regions where there’s mobile gaming dominance. China, which enjoys the highest number of mobile gamers, is one potential strategic market for launch. Mobile esports continues to grow, too, and Riot’s launch reflects that it’s dedicated to holding its ground amongst competitor mobile gun games PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Free Fire.

VALORANT Mobile What’s to Come
So far, Riot has refrained from unveiling all gameplay systems at once, but early trailers and gameplay teasers are indicating:
- Game’s Primary Tactical Gameplay: Shooting gameplay and abilities of agents will be transferred to mobile-optimized User Interface controls.
- Competitive Ranked Modes: The same ranked ladder and matchmaking algorithm reengineered for mobile players.
- Cross-Progression: Riot has also hinted at shared account or cross-progression possibilities between mobile and PC, which will allow players to have their progress stay stable across different systems.
- Interchangeable Controls: Riot isn’t holding back when it comes to ensuring mobile play operates seamlessly, and they’re bringing customizable controls and aim-assist to mobile.
China First, then World!
But pre-registration remains China-only, following regional publishing collaboration by Riot with subsidiary company Tencent, TiMi Studios. It also guarantees compliance to law in China and server fine-tuning for smoothness. Global rollout will be earlier but hasn’t yet been publicly announced. Insiders are expecting a phased rollout, and Southeast Asia, Korea, and Western markets will launch later this year or early 2026.
What This Means for the FPS Genre
VALORANT Mobile’s potential release shakes things up in the mobile shooter genre with the potential of a unique blend of strategic depths and rapid action that’s meant exclusively for mobile phones. It will inevitably attract hardcore and casual fans who are looking for a serious alternative to other mobile shooters.
